"Chief" is a new addition to the ranch.  With a young daughter came the interest in shorter horses for her... and thus the idea of raising a few 'Youth Sized' Ponies.  I plan to cross Chief on full sized Quarter Horse mares to produce fancy Paint foals that should mature around 13 hands.  I think this will be a super nice size for ponies for youth.  They should be large enough that a small adult can train them under saddle, and big enough to be a Youth Pony without worry of the child out growing the pony quickly.  I also only wanted to use a Very well balanced, and athletic pony sire.  Too many ponies are stubby and short-strided, and I want to breed for athletic Youth Ponies, so finding a pony built like a horse was very important.   Chief is long-strided, athletic, very well balanced with a long clean neck, good withers, and a pretty head with tiny little ears. 
I also plan to offer breed services to this pony stallion via cooled shipped semen and also on-farm breeding options.  I think he would cross well with several breeds.  Crossed with TB mares should result in an outstanding Hunter-Jumper pony.
He has been tested and confirmed to be Homozygous for Black and Homozygous for Tobiano.  EEaaTT.
